Male, Han ethnicity, born in December 1970, native of Hai'an, Jiangsu Province; member of the Communist Party of China. A distinguished neurosurgical expert, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Director-General of the National Health Commission's Million Disability Reduction Project Expert Committee, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Capital Medical University, Dean of Beijing Institute for Brain Disorders, and Director of the Stroke Center at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University. His research focuses on stroke prevention, treatment, and translational medicine.
As a renowned stroke specialist and doctoral supervisor in neurology, he holds concurrent positions as Chief Physician and Professor. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Chang Jiang Scholars Program Award from the Ministry of Education, and the Ten Thousand Talents Program Leading Scientist. He serves as Principal Investigator for major projects under the National Natural Science Foundation, including key international cooperation initiatives, major instrument development programs, and national science and technology support plans. His leadership roles include Director-General of the National Million Disability Reduction Project Expert Committee, Director-General of the China Healthy Aging Promotion Project Expert Committee, and President of the International Society for Adapted Medicine.
He has published 318 SCI papers as corresponding author in top-tier journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet Neurology, and Nature, with over 18,600 citations and an H-index of 67. He has been recognized as a "Highly Cited Chinese Researcher" by Elsevier for five consecutive years. His innovations include 104 authorized patents (inventions and software) and 11 major awards, such as two National Science and Technology Progress Awards (Second Class), four Provincial/Ministerial First-Class Science and Technology Awards, the He-Liang-He Li Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, the Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Award, and the National Innovation Competition Excellence Award.
He was elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering on November 22, 2023.
